Assigning Security Permissions to Accounts
Accounts are assigned security permissions to control the appearance and behavior of COM functions and features for users.
Before you begin
About this task
Only alter security permission values if you understand what will be affected.
Procedure
- Select the user, user group, or UI group to modify.

Click the Edit button:

Click Permissions.
- A check mark indicates the permission is granted to the user or group:

- An X indicates the permission is not granted to the user or group, or that it has
been denied:

- If the permission is inherited, the group it is inherited from is listed in green.
- If the permission is denied on the user level, the user name is listed in red.For example, in the following image, Frank Turner has been denied permission to set security permissions at the user account level:

Note that if the red X is visible without any text, the permission is not set (not explicitly denied).
- A check mark indicates the permission is granted to the user or group:

Assign permissions as required:
To Do this Select all permissions Click the Select All button: 
Clear all permissions Click the Clear All button: 
Allow a user or group to view or access screen content or perform a test
Select the check box for each permission to grant to the user or group and click the Grant button:
Prevent a user or group from viewing or accessing content or performing a task
Select the check box for each permission to remove from or deny to the user or group and click the Deny button:
Note that the Need Override option (
) is not currently used in COM and should be
ignored. -
Click the Save button:
