Backtracking Violations

Backtracking occurs when a vehicle with a passenger on board returns to or close to a location where the passenger was picked up, or passes by a destination area and leaves without dropping off the client, resulting in a Backtracking violation (BT).

This violation is undesirable:
  • It indicates inefficient use of time and resources for both the site, provider, and the client.
  • The vehicle travels back and forth between pick-up and drop-off locations.

BT violations may occur if the angle threshold, origin backtracking circle, or destination retrenchment circle are violated. Such violations are applied only to drop-off events, regardless of whether they occur at the pick-up event or the drop-off event.
