Optimizer Batch Settings Switches and Descriptions

Optimizer Batch Settings switches are found in the Trace Options dialog box. The OptBatchSettings folder also contains several subfolders with switches.

Optimizer Batch Settings

The following Optimizer Batch Settings switches are located in the Schedule Server application. Click View > Switches; in the Switches tab, expand Switches > PASS > SchedSrv > Batch > OptBatchSettings folder. Also, some switches can be found in the following subfolders: Algorithm, Debug > Thread, or Sort.
Table 1. Optimizer Batch Setting Switches and Descriptions
Switch Description Default
Batch SearchId A Search ID is used for the Optimize Batch Search feature. 1
Enable If ON, enables the Optimize Batch Search feature. It should only be turned ON in a test environment, as it will automatically start the Batch Search Feature. OFF
Algorithm > Algorithm Setting it to 1 enables a basic search. Setting the custom level to 2 allows for an intermediate search (2 or other values). 1
Algorithm > IterationCheck Checks the batch processing status period in seconds. 15
Algorithm > MaxAttempts Allows MaxAttempts to randomly find unique settings for 3 settings keeping constant in this batch process. 10
Algorithm > MaxBatchPerIteration Sets the max number of batches to run per batch process. Set to 0 for the algorithm to decide the max number. 2
Algorithm > MaxIteration Indicates the max number of batch processes to run. Set 0 to have no maximum.
Algorithm > OnTimerCheck Indicates the period in seconds to check starting/stopping for Optimize Batch feature. Example, 5 minutes = 300 seconds. 300
Algorithm > Reduce Threads The amount indicates the number of threads below maximum threads that can run in parallel. 0
Algorithm > SetNumThreads Sets the number of threads that can run in parallel. Setting to 0 to have the algorithm determine the number of threads. 0
Debug > Trace Found in the Debug subfolder. This Debug trace level switch is used for the Optimize Batch Settings feature. 0
Sort > Enable Dump Sort Read from DB To Log If ON then the sort order of trips in the batch read, from the BatchSearchSortOrder table, will be dumped to the log file. 0
Sort > Enable Dump Sort TO DB If ON then the sort order of the trips in the batch will be dumped to the BatchSearchSortOrder table used by the Optimize Batch Settings feature. This also requires PASS > SchedSrv > Batch > OptBatchSettings > Enable Read Sort from DB switch to be OFF. 0
Sort > Enable Read Sort from DB If ON then the sort order of trips in the batch will be read from the BatchSearchSortOrder table used by the Optimize Batch Settings feature. 0
Sort > Remove Previous Sort in DB If ON then the previous entries in the BatchSearchSortOrder table will be deleted for the given schedule and sort ID. 0
Sort > Sort Id The sort ID is used when dumping and reading in Batch Sort. 1
