Connecting to Data Sources

Connect to a data source first before attempting to apply any of the DBEdit commands.

If you are working with several data sources, make sure you know which one you need to connect to for the task you are to perform.
When working with DBEdit, you can be connected to different data sources at the same time. You can open more than one .dbd and/or .sql file at a time and switch from one file to another.
  1. Do one of the following:
    • Click Datasource > Connect .
    • Click the Connect button:
      Cylinder.
The Select an ODBC Data Source dialog appears.
  2. Click the data source to use.
  3. Click OK.
A message appears informing you that new tables will be created under the displayed schema owner.
Note: This value must be the same for all tables.
  4. Click OK.
    The Admin Options dialog appears.
  5. Click OK.
Compare the *.dbd file with the defined data source.
