Shared Storage Database Server General Requirements
The following requirements are needed for shared storage for the Trapeze database server applications:
| Recommended Specification | Optimal Specification |
|---|---|
| 10 Gbps iSCSI or 8 Gbps Fibre Channel attached storage with redundant
storage controllers. 1 Gbps iSCSI can be implemented under certain conditions, if necessary, as long as multiple port aggregation can be achieved. At least two connections should be made from each storage controller for redundancy. |
10 Gbps iSCSI or 16 Gbps Fibre Channel attached storage with
redundant storage controllers. At least two connections should be made from each storage controller for redundancy. |
| Storage network switch (Ethernet or Fibre Channel) with enough open
ports to support server and storage controller connections. Use of dual switches with connectivity to all devices from each switch is recommended to support full storage fabric redundancy. |

| Appropriate Ethernet adapter or Fibre Channel HBA for each server to
be connected to the storage fabric. At least two connections should be made from each server controller for redundancy. |

| 15,000 RPM SAS Hard Disk Drives. Number and size of drives, and RAID level will be dependent on the specific storage needs of the application or database. One configured hot spare drive for every twelve drives of the same size/type. |
