About Security

Overview of security features.

The following security features are available:
  • Setting the security level.
  • Setting password policies.
  • Specifying user access.

About Setting the Security Level

There are two levels of security you can turn on and off.
  • Authenticate: Turn this on to require users to enter a username and password when logging in.
  • Check Permissions: Turn this on to limit user access to only the functions they have been granted permission to.

About Setting Password Policies

You can set password policies to enforce the following:
  • The number and types of characters that passwords can include.
  • The frequency with which users must change their passwords.
  • Whether users can change their passwords to previously-used passwords.
  • Whether the system enforces password policies each time a user logs in.

About Specifying User Access

You can specify which functions a user can access. You can specify permissions for an individual user or for a group and add the user to the group. Users inherit the permissions specified in groups they are added to.

There is a built-in user named Admin. This user is a member of the built-in Administrators group and cannot be deleted, renamed, or added to other groups. The default password for the Admin user is blank, but you can change this password at any time.
