About Triangulation Speed Factors
Triangulation Speed Factors requires PASS "triangulation" distance calculation and speed factor calculations to calculate estimated trip times.
Although PASS uses a global average speed to calculate estimated trip times, drivers know that the speed of traffic does not remain constant during the course of a normal day or even a single trip. For example, traffic is slower during rush hour but it is faster during the middle of the night. Also, the further a vehicle needs to travel, chances are that it will move faster because of high-speed highways that are available to bypass slower traffic.
To specify when traffic speeds are increased or decreased throughout the day, use the Speed Factors screen (click ) in the Schedule Administrator application to configure the system to account for varying traffic speeds and distances when calculating estimated trip times.
