Searching for Closest Common Locations

You can search for common locations within close proximity of a specified address.

Before you begin

The appropriate sign-up period should be selected and the Find Closest Wizard must be open.

Procedure

  1. Geocode a point near which to perform the search.
Geocoded addresses typically appear in black text. Addresses that require geocoding appear in red.
To copy a geocoded point in an active window into the Find Closest Wizard dialog box, click the Retrieve Address button:
Empty window (as found on a computer screen).
If the map is open, a yellow dot appears to confirm that the search point has been geocoded.
  2. In the Find Closest Wizard toolbar, in the drop-down list, click Locations.
  3. Select Radius and type the distance to search around the geocoded point.
  4. Optional: Select Limit and type the maximum number of results to show.
The default maximum is 200 search results. The found locations are the ones closest to your search point.
  5. Optional: Click a location Type in the list to narrow your search. For example, Shopping. Available location types are defined by a system administrator in ancillary data.
If you do not choose a location type, all common locations within the specified radius are included in the search.
  6. Click Find.
