About Runcutting Analysis and Improvement

After you have cut your runs, it is advised to analyze them to see if you can make them better.

Look at the number of runs per run type, the percentage distribution and total pay. Determine if they match your requirements. You may then decide to minimize or have more runs of a specific run type, unhook an illegal run and look for pieces it can match with to create a legal run, or simply reduce the total Pay of the runs regardless of the types of runs.

The Automatic Runcutting feature has an IImprove button that helps you find the lowest cost solution for the distribution of runs and weights that you are using; That is one that simultaneously abides by all union constraints and minimizes cost. By changing the weights in the Union Contract dialog box and the costing constants, you can improve your pay to platform ratio and have a better selection of run types in your run distribution.

The Improve function is used with all runs regardless of whether they were manually or automatically runcut. However it does not re-cut pieces or work already cut. It shifts reliefs, switch pieces, hook and unhook pieces that are not cut if contract rules are used.
