Comparing Data Sources with Database Definition Files

Comparing and updating your data source in Trapeze DbEdit so that it matches the database definition allows it to function correctly with Trapeze software.

DbEdit is a tool that helps manage databases used by Trapeze software. It is run when the software is first installed or when it is upgraded.
  1. Open DbEdit.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Click Datasource > Compare with Dbd.
    • Click the Compare button: Compare button
    The Compare Differences with Dbd dialog appears.
  3. Select the appropriate checkboxes with which you want the system to compare the databases.
  4. Click Compare.
    The status bar at the bottom of the dialog indicates that the system is processing the data. (To stop the process, click the red X button beside the status bar.)

  5. (If you have existing data) To synchronize the data with existing data, select the tables that you know are used in the application on which you are working and click Apply to Datasource.
  6. (If you have an empty database) In the TableDifferences box, select all of the TableDifferences and then click Apply to Datasource.

    Create the empty database first in either Oracle or Microsoft SQL. For more information on this, refer to the documentation of these relational database management systems.

  7. (If Applicable) Determine how best to handle any remaining data differences.
