Base Peripheral Requirements

Peripheral and network utilities requirements will vary by agency based on usage, need, and specific information technology best practices.

  • In general, access to a laser quality printer will be necessary for generating reports and other documents.
  • All workstations and other fixed peripherals should be protected with surge suppressing power bars/strips from trusted vendors such as APC, TrippLite, etc.
  • Server installations should be protected at minimum with surge suppressing power distribution devices and preferably with battery backup units that, at a minimum, provide sufficient power to operate the entire infrastructure (servers, monitors, switches, etc.) for the time required to perform a graceful shutdown. It is recommended that power distribution and battery backup units be equipped with network interfaces to allow monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Anti-virus software is highly recommended for all workstations. It is recommended that A/V software be managed centrally to ensure that signature updates and regular scans are performed on a scheduled basis. There are certain file and/or directory exclusions that may need to be made for certain Trapeze products.
  • At minimum, database files and key configuration files should backed up on a daily basis. Trapeze does not have a specific vendor preference as to backup software products or use of external media vs. disk-to-disk backup methodologies. Backups of all server data should be handled in accordance with existing agency policies and standards.
