About Creating and Managing User Groups

You can create, modify, and delete user groups that specify which functionality that group members can access by defining security rights and by adding groups to other groups from which they can inherit permissions.

If a user or group is assigned to a group, they inherit all permissions of the group.

The system includes two built-in user groups:
Administrators
This group is made up of system administrators and cannot be a member of other groups, in order to avoid situations where permission is denied to the Administrators group because of group membership. All other users and groups can be members of the Administrators group. Members of the Administrators group are granted permission to all functionality; however, particular permissions can be restricted to members of the Administrators group by denying them directly, or indirectly through another group membership.
Everyone
This group is used to assign permissions to all system users. The Everyone group cannot be a member of other groups, and other groups cannot be members of the Everyone group. The group contains all users except the Admin user. By default, the group has no permissions. System administrators are required to set permissions for the group as required by the transit site security policy.
