Starting the Service Shell

Before you can configure or use the Client Shell, you must start the Service Shell.

About this task

You can start the Service Shell from a shortcut on the desktop to the service shell executable (SrvShell.exe), if available, or from the directory where the application is installed.

Procedure

  1. Depending on the machine you are using, perform one of the following steps:
    • On a 32-bit machine, browse to the path\Bin\vc142\Win32\Release folder, where path is the main installation folder
    • On a 64-bit machine, browse to the path\Bin\vc142\x64\Release folder, where path is the main installation folder

  2. Right-click the SrvShell.exe file, and click Create Shortcut from the shortcut menu.
    A SrvShell.exe - Shortcut file appears in the folder.
  3. Right-click the SrvShell.exe - Shortcut file, and click Properties from the shortcut menu.
    The Properties dialog appears.
  4. On the Shortcut tab, type the following string in the Target field ("localhost" is a sample profile name):
    -id=Primary -config localhost.profile
  5. Click OK.
  6. Optional: Copy the shortcut to the desktop.
