About Security
This is an overview of security features.
The following security features are available:
- Setting password policies.
- Specifying user access.
Note: The Service Shell switches: Authenticate and Check Permissions have been
deprecated. These previously allowed the setting of security levels.
About Setting Password Policies
You can set password policies to enforce the following:
- The number and types of characters that passwords can include.
- The frequency with which users must change their passwords.
- Whether users can change their passwords to previously-used passwords.
- Whether the system enforces password policies each time a user logs in.
About Specifying User Access
You can specify which functions a user can access. You can specify permissions for an individual user or for a group and add the user to the group. Users inherit the permissions specified in groups they are added to.
There is a built-in user named Admin. This user is a member of the built-in Administrators group and cannot be deleted, renamed, or added to other groups. The default password for the Admin user is blank, but you can change this password at any time.
