Types of FLEX Routes

FLEX routes refer to the types of routes that are used in the application.

The types of FLEX routes are:

  1. Point to Point Deviation: The route is not established between nodes; has a limited number of stops and the direct running time is less than the published running times. When creating this type, you must:
    • Set the sign-up period.
    • Create the lines, services, and division ancillary data.
    • Define the nodes.
    • Build the trips.
    • Generate the blocks and assign garages.
    • Create para runs.
  2. Route Deviated: The route follows a specific pattern but has a deviation occurring between consecutive stops. The deviation is allowed only if it does not cause schedule violation at future pre-determined stops. FLEX/Fixed runs allow back-to-back nodes/stops with the same geocode to have deviations for a pick-up or drop-off in between the stops provided that the stops have an FX scheduled time difference of five minutes or more. When creating this type, you must:
    • Set the sign-up period.
    • Create the lines, services and division ancillary data.
    • Define the nodes, stops, and the routes.
    • Create run times.
    • Build the trips.
    • Generate the blocks and assign garages.
    • Create para runs.

iii. Feeder to Fixed (Multi-Modal): Has defined common transfers between the fixed route and the demand response (paratransit) trips.
