About Provider Contracts
Provider contract information is specified in Provider Contracts ancillary data.
Provider contracts define how costs are calculated, and in which situations the costs apply. One or more time periods can be defined for each validity in a provider contract, and validity periods and rules can be defined during the contract period (as well as in advance). For example, if a five-year contract is defined, validities for its negotiated costs can be updated in January of each year.
Costs can be based on any of the following:
- Per run
- Per trip
- Per stop
- Additional services, such as providing a stair climber
- Dwell time
- Guarantee time
- Time of day
- Type of trip
After provider cost changes are made, you must restart the Schedule Server. If you change the rate profiles retroactively, the Schedule Server recalculates them when you load the schedule.
