Setting Up Transfers Functionality

With PASS-CT, you can create transfer trips between areas served by different providers.

Before you begin

The Trapeze4 Workstation must be open.

About this task

To set up transfers functionality, you must complete the following tasks.
Note: Unless otherwise specified, the following tasks are performed in the Trapeze4 Workstation.

Procedure

  1. Create a polygon type to use for run service areas.
The type can be a unique polygon type or a shared type, such as Service Area.

To create polygon types, click File > Ancillary Data > General > Polygon Types.

For more information, see the PASS System Administrator and User Guide.

  2. Create bus stops to use as transfer points. The In Service and Transfer check boxes should be marked for the bus stops.

To create bus stops, click Task > Bus Stops.

For more information, see the FX User Guide.

  3. Draw polygons to use in booking transfer trips. Ensure that all transfer points fall within both polygons that share the transfer points.

To draw polygons, click Task > Polygon Definition.

For more information, see the PASS System Administrator and User Guide.

  4. Using Para Polygon Transfer ancillary data or the Transfer Wizard, specify the bus stops that are used as transfer points for each pair of polygons.

To specify transfer points using Para Polygon Transfer ancillary data, click File > Ancillary Data > Para > Service Areas > Para Polygon Transfer.

For more information, see the PASS System Administrator and User Guide.

To specify transfer points using the Transfer Wizard, click Tools > Transfer Wizard.

For more information, see Setting Up Transfers and Viewing Transfers Between Polygons.

  5. For Master, Live, and Template days, specify polygons for the runs.

To specify a polygon for a run, go to Task > Runs, and specify a polygon on the Detail tab.

For more information, see the PASS System Administrator and User Guide.

  6. Click Tools > System Properties, and specify values for the following system properties:
PASS Booking Client > Default SubTypeAbbr > Transfer Trips
Specifies the subtype for bookings that contain transfers. This subtype identifies trips that are transfer trips that should be shown to other providers using PASS-CT under some conditions.
PASS Scheduling > Max Transfer Layover
Defines the maximum wait time at a transfer point (for example, 20 minutes). When this value is exceeded, a TL violation is incurred.
PASS Scheduling > Sync Neg with Sch Times
Whether to synchronize the scheduled time with the negotiated time. Select Yes (prompt).
  7. In the Schedule Server, go to View > Switches and do one of the following:
    • In step 4, if you specified transfer points using Para Polygon Transfer data, set PASS > SchedSrv > Transfers > Enable ParaPolyTransfers to 1 (On).
    • In step 4, if you specified transfer points using the Transfer Wizard, set PASS > SchedSrv > Transfers > Enable ParaPolyTransfers to 0 (Off).

If you set this switch to 0 (Off), you must also set PASS > SchedSrv > Transfers > Associate PASS InfoTransfers Table with FX Lines to 1 (On).

  8. Restart Schedule Server.
