Miscellaneous Globals
The Miscellaneous Globals parameters are a collection of parameters that apply mainly on times and time periods for specific instances.
The following table explains the parameters in the Miscellaneous Globals Situation.
| Parameter | Description |
| Am peak start time | The algorithm attempts to avoid cutting a run during this time range. |
| Am peak end time | The algorithm attempts to avoid cutting a run during this time range. |
| Midday peak start time | The algorithm attempts to avoid cutting a run during this time range. |
| Midday peak end time | The algorithm attempts to avoid cutting a run during this time range. |
| Pm peak start time | The algorithm attempts to avoid cutting a run during this time range. |
| Pm peak end time | The algorithm attempts to avoid cutting a run during this time range. |
| Mixed group tolerance | The maximum time in minutes that provides an acceptable tolerance for different line group data on a single run. |
| Maximum number of pieces | The maximum number of valid segments in a run. |
| Minimum piece length | The minimum piece length for a piece, including allowances. |
| Maximum piece length | The maximum piece length for a piece, including allowances. |
| Maximum driving time piece | The maximum driving time for a piece, excluding allowances. |
| Maximum driving time shift | The maximum driving time for a shift, excluding allowances. |
| Maximum driving time run | The maximum driving time for a run excluding allowances. |
| Max extra paid breaks run | The maximum number of extra paid breaks permitted in a run. |
| Max extra paid breaks shift | The maximum number of extra paid breaks permitted in a shift. |
| Min extra paid break length | The minimum length for an extra paid break. |
| Max extra paid break length | The maximum length for an extra paid break. |
| Extra paid break period early | The earliest start time for an extra paid break |
| Extra paid break period late | The latest finish time for an extra paid break. |
| Max extra unpaid breaks run | The maximum number of extra unpaid breaks permitted in a run. |
| Max extra unpaid breaks shift | The maximum number of extra unpaid breaks permitted in a shift. |
| Min extra unpaid break length | The minimum length for an extra unpaid break. |
| Max extra unpaid break length | The maximum length for an extra unpaid break. |
| Extra paid unbreak period early | The earliest start time for an extra unpaid break. |
| Extra paid unbreak period late | The latest finish time for an extra unpaid break. |
| Alternate general tolerance | Allows for "cheating" on all conditions by providing a value that each constraint can be adjusted and still be considered legal. |
| Alternate add extra cuts | Increase the number of cuts. |
| Alternate secondary option weighting | A numeric value, which increases the likelihood that the shifts produced meet employee expectations. The risk is that by improving shift quality, a more costly solution can result. |
| Standby minimum value | The minimum value in minutes to be typed for a gap in the shift, which can be classified as standby. |
| Time to clean | The time in minutes required for cleaning a vehicle. |
| Maximum non bus work | Defines the maximum number of minutes that can be assigned as non bus or non driving time in a shift. |
| Minimum gap at depot | The minimum break time at a garage. |
| Constraints | Constraints created in the Constraint Parameters screen are applied to the scenario. |
