Users have the option to apply the Run Block Optimizer algorithm to process run solutions in BlockBuster. When applied, the algorithm provides the following advantages:
About This Guide
The Run Block Optimizer v19 User Guide describes the set up of the software in relation to BlockBuster and explains some of the common Run Block Optimizer parameters used in performing runcutting.
Features of Run Block Optimizer Algorithm
The Run Block Optimizer algorithm has the following features:
About the Run Block Optimizer Parameters
The Run Block Optimizer parameters are shown on tabs separate from the BlockBuster parameters.
Differences Between Run Block Optimizer and BlockBuster Parameters
There are some important differences between the Run Block Optimizer and Blockbuster parameters.
Before runcutting with Run Block Optimizer parameters, make sure to complete the following steps first in FX and BlockBuster.
Setting Context for Ancillary Data to Block Optimizer
Before you can work with Block Optimizer data, you must set the context of the data in the Context dialog.
Ancillary Data for Block Optimizer
When creating the run types and run type garages ancillary data, make sure that you have set your context to Run Block Optimizer.
The following sections list the Block Optimizer parameters in each Situation by Group:
Run Types (Group)
The Run Types Group is composed of the run types that you have created for your transit site.
Work and Pay Rules
Work and Pay Rules refer to the rules on the payment of work times during breaks and before and after the actual runs.
Miscellaneous
The Miscellaneous parameters refer typically to the rules that apply to the lengths or ranges of time around breaks, runs, or pieces.
Run Block Optimizer block scenarios are similar to the block scenarios used in Trapeze FX. They are useful when working on Block Optimizer runcutting with the relinking option.
Loading Block Scenarios
Load block scenarios that you want to reuse or modify.
Saving Block Scenarios
Save the block scenarios whose parameter settings you may want to apply or reuse for other run solutions.
Deleting Block Scenarios
You can delete duplicate or block scenarios that you no longer require.
Comparing Scenarios
After you have made changes to your blocks in FX or to your Block Optimizer parameters, you may choose to save the blocks in a new scenario.
Initial Runcutting with Block Optimizer Parameters
When performing an automatic runcut with the Block Optimizer algorithm, you can use the parameters used in a regular runcut and other parameters specific to Block Optimizer.
The steps to runcutting with the Block Optimizer then Recut Existing option in Cut dialog are similar to those performed when runcutting with Run Block Optimizer for the first time.
About Establishing Depth and Effort
In addition to selecting the type of runcut you want the system to perform, there are various levels of runcutting that are available in BlockBuster along two criteria: depth and effort.
After runcutting and allowing relinking of blocks, you can view the changes applied to the blocks in the FX Blocking screen.
Viewing Reliefs and Relinking Points
View the relief points assigned to a block at any time during the runcutting process.
