About Installing and Configuring FX

The following sections list the steps involved in installing or loading FX into a computer system. FX needs to be configured properly in order that it can operate in the Trapeze4 environment successfully.

Before performing the installation:

Determine which Trapeze components need to be installed and configured. The Trapeze4 Workstation must be installed and configured first before any of the other Trapeze modules are to be installed.
Determine whether you have existing data that can be used with FX and related Trapeze products or if an empty database is to be installed.
Determine whether you are using Microsoft SQL or Oracle. The installation instructions are slightly different for each database management system. In most cases, this guide provides instructions for configuring databases to work with Microsoft SQL only.

All of the installation instructions included here are for server side setup and configuration. All of the data and application files are resident on the Client server. Usually, a permanent mapping is created in the Trapeze directory on the server (for example, T:\). Also, unless otherwise stated, all directories are permanent and should NOT be removed once the setup is complete.
