User-Defined Map Properties

Map properties determine the way the system matches an address to be geocoded against information within the database, and the visual layout of the system map on the screen and on printout.

These properties should not be altered in any way once the map is installed.

Map properties are found in File > Properties, on the Map tab.

Property Description
Address MatchingAddress Match Parameters Click Edit to show Address Match Parameters.
Note: The Trapeze6 Service Shell must be activated for Address Match Parameters to be shown.
Address Matching > Ignore Blanks when Updating Address Specifies whether the system will ignore blank fields when updating addresses after geocoding. It is set to No by default.
Address Matching > Insert SiteName into AddrName

The Site Name is inserted into the Address Name field.

The Address Name field is left blank. (This property is used with Address Matcher when geocoding a location. The Address fields must also be in extended view.)
Address Matching > Update Address upon Geocode
Yes
When you type an address into an address box, and select an address from the match results supplied by the Address Matcher dialog box, the address box is updated with the selected address.

The system accepts your selection but does not update your entry. The address you typed in the address box remains intact.
Address Matching > Use City Specifies whether the city is used in geocoding.
Address Matching > Use Cross Street Specifies whether the cross street is used in geocoding. Select No.
Address Matching > Use Location Specifies whether to enable the Address Matcher to use the Location field in the address matching process.
Address Matching > Use State Specifies whether the state is used in geocoding. Select No.
Address Matching > Use Street Specifies whether to enable the Address Matcher to use the Street field in the address matching process.
Address Matching > Use Street Number Specifies whether the street number is used in geocoding.
Address Matching > Use Zip Code Specifies whether the zip code is used in geocoding.
Printout Appearance > Background color Color of the map’s background when printed out.
Printout Appearance > Printer MapLayout file Default path of the Printer MapLayout.xml file, which stores the settings on how the map printout appears. The settings are defined in the Layer Control dialog box.
Printout Appearance > Street label color Color of street labels on the system map.
Printout Appearance > Street label font Typeface for street labels on the system map.
Screen Appearance > Background color Color of the system map’s background on the screen.
Screen Appearance > Display Current Span Specifies whether to show the span indicator in the bottom right corner of the map.
Screen Appearance > Map Flash Color (Applies to FX.) Color applied to flash the selected address or location on the map.
Screen Appearance > Route Colors > Connect points [plot] Applies to FX.
Screen Appearance > Route Colors > Delete trace [plot] Applies to FX.
Screen Appearance > Route Colors > Highlighted label foreground Applies to FX.

Screen Appearance > Street label font Typeface for street labels of the system map on the screen.
Select accuracy Set clicking accuracy to make it easier to click on the correct location if multiple locations are close together.

A value of 4 works well when more accuracy is needed.
