Using Saved Map Layer Settings

After defining and saving map layout settings, they can be used on the map.

The Layer Control dialog box must be open.
  1. Select a map layout option from the list at the top left corner.
  2. Click Apply.
An exclamation mark appears next to the name of the map layout file to indicate that it is currently shown on the map.
A red exclamation point beside the word Custom.
  3. Optional: To set the layout option as the default for the on-screen map, click the screen button next to the list in the top left corner of the dialog:
A blue square surrounded by a gray border.
A screen icon appears next to the layout option in the dropdown list.
  4. Optional: To set the layout option as the default for printed maps, click the Printer button next to the list in the top left corner of the dialog:
    Printer.
One map layout option can be used for both on-screen and printed output. However, you may want lighter background colors for the printed output than the on-screen output.
A printer icon appears next to the layout option in the dropdown list.
If the map layout option is set as the default for the on-screen and print layouts and is currently used on the map, all three icons will be visible.
