About Exceptions
Exceptions apply to trips that operate under special conditions.
Using exceptions helps:
- Manage schedules that vary day-to-day or are based on events.
- Produce variations of blocks and runcuts that are based on normal service, that is, School Days.
- Manage variations in service for customer information systems.
The most common exception is school service. School service consists of one or more trips added to the beginning or end of certain blocks within a weekday service. If your transit site however provides school service with extra buses and drivers, it is not recommended that you use exceptions because you can create the school service as a separate service.
Exceptions are set up as ancillary data and applied in Trip Building, Blocking, or Runcutting.
