Extracting Trips by Block

Ridership Analysis is a valuable tool for examining and evaluating ridership within your service area. You can extract trips for any route, direction, or block; you only need to define the sign-up period in the Set Mode (F3) screen before you extract trips for ride checks.

Choosing a specific block is an efficient way to select a group of trips for checking. A block represents a group of trips assigned to one bus. Therefore, the checker can stay on the bus from trip to trip to perform multiple ride checks.
  1. Click Ridership > Extract Riding Checks by Block.
The Riding Check Trip Extract dialog box appears.

  2. In the Block Select frame, select the appropriate line in the Line Group drop-down list.
  3. In the Block Id drop-down list, select the block from which you want to extract. The trips of the selected block are shown in the left column of the Trip Selection pane.
  4. Optional: In the Trip Groups frame, select the appropriate trip group.

Creating Trip Groups is used if you are creating extractions for hand-held computers. Trip Groups make it easier to group ride checks into pieces of work for checkers.

  5. Optional: In the Check Type drop-down list, select All Check Types or a specific Ride check type.
  6. Optional: In the Comment field, type an appropriate comment.
  7. In the Service drop-down list, select the appropriate service.
  8. Optional: In the left frame of the Trip Selection pane, double-click a trip (in any color except black).
A summary of the check history appears in the Ridership Check Edit dialog box.
