Content and Appearance Settings Saved in Workspaces

The following table outlines exactly what is saved when you save a workspace. The items are categorized by content and appearance. Remember, none of the settings is irreversible; it is for the sake of convenience that workspaces can be saved, but alterations can always be made as you work.

Note: Some of the functions described in the following table may not be applicable to COM such as List and Detail views but are used in other Trapeze6 applications.
Table 1. Content and Appearance Setting Options
Item Description

Fields/Grid

Content: The fields you have selected to be displayed in each screen are saved.

Appearance: The colors and grid lines you specify for each screen are saved.

Customizing the grid gives you the option of creating tailored sheets in the Detail view of any screen that uses List and Detail views.

System settings and screen specific properties

Content: The system settings you have chosen are preserved when you save a workspace.

Appearance: The screen specific properties you have chosen are preserved when you save a workspace.

These settings control various aspects of how COM displays information and how COM performs specific functions. For example, you can specify that distance be displayed in miles, and that subject attachments should always be included in email messages.

Customized menus

This refers to extensions you place and organize in the Task, Ancillary, Tools, or Reports menus in the Menu bar, as well as the Launchpad.

Content: The organization and content of the menus are saved.

Appearance: The appearance of the menus, such as the presence or absence of separators, is saved.

List view and Detail view

Appearance: The views you have chosen for each screen are saved. For example, clicking only List view in the Vehicles screen and saving it to the workspace ensures that each time you open the workspace, only the List view is available in that screen.

Keep in mind that if you want to see the Detail view in a screen, you can activate it; you are not restricted from doing so because you did not save it to the workspace.

Customized toolbars

Content: Customized standard and screen toolbars are preserved when you save a workspace. (You cannot customize the Menu bar.) Any new toolbars and the buttons you put on them are also preserved when you save a workspace.

Appearance: The size of the icons (large or small) are preserved when you save a workspace.

Sort order

Appearance: The sort order changes the organization of the data within a grid. The order is saved when you save your workspace.

Status bar Content: The presence or absence of the Status bar is preserved when you save your workspace.
Workbook Content: The presence, or absence of Workbook tabs is preserved when you save your workspace.
Zoom level

Appearance: The current zoom level of your screen is preserved when the workspace is saved. The zoom level affects how large the print is on your screen.
