About PASS Properties

PASS uses three types of properties: Trapeze6 properties, system properties, and user-defined properties.

Trapeze6 properties (also called context properties) control the system appearance and behavior of PASS and other Trapeze applications. While some Trapeze applications work entirely in Trapeze6, PASS works primarily in Trapeze4.

There are two categories of Trapeze4 properties used by PASS: system properties and user-defined properties. System properties apply to the entire PASS installation, while user-defined properties can be changed on a user-by-user basis to reflect individual preferences. Both use the Properties dialog box, where you can adjust settings and add comments for future users.

The Properties dialog boxes allow you to:
  • View database and file locations.
  • Set a path name to enable the system to access the appropriate data.
  • Activate or deactivate features available in the system by clicking Yes to enable or show the feature on the screen, or clicking No to disable or hide the feature.
  • Determine settings for active features by entering a set of values in the corresponding section of the dialog box or by selecting an option from a drop-down list, which becomes the value by default.

These settings are typically determined before transit sites goes live and caution should be used when making adjustments. One change to a property setting can affect the entire schedule. Therefore, proceed with changes gradually and check results after each change.
