About Security Permissions
A user is an individual who uses the system. Each user has specific tasks and responsibilities according to his or her position and thus, may require different access and permissions within the system.
Note: The Security permissions for users and user groups are set up when BSM is
installed.
A user can be granted or denied permissions in three ways:
- Directly (manually)
- Directly, through membership in a group.
- Indirectly, through membership in a group that is itself a member of another group. For example, group members inherit permissions.
A user group is composed of users who share the same permissions such as sign in rights, access to certain functions, the ability to perform functions, and set menu and screen layouts. In larger or more complex sites, groups can also be assigned to other groups.
