Shift Break Time

With Block Optimizer parameters, the break on a straight run is referred to as a shift break but the break on a broken run is called a gap.

The Block Optimizer parameter - Work and Pay Rules > Shift Break Rules are used to define whether Block Optimizer should consider breaks paid or unpaid.

The following table explains the parameters in the Shift Break Time Situation.

Parameter Description
Paid home (minimum/maximum) (S) The shift break range consists of two times that identify the minimum and maximum number of minutes that are used when specifying the paid shift break length at the drivers home garage (depot).
Paid start (earliest/latest) (S) The start range consists of two times that identify the earliest and latest time a paid shift break may commence.
Paid end (earliest/latest) (S) The end range consists of two times that identify the earliest and latest time a paid shift break may finish.
Paid away (minimum/maximum) (S) The shift break range consists of two times that identify the minimum and maximum number of minutes that are used when specifying the paid shift break length at an away garage (depot).
Unpaid home (minimum/maximum) (S) The shift break range consists of two times that identify the minimum and maximum number of minutes that are used when specifying the unpaid shift break length at the driver’s home garage (depot).
Unpaid start (earliest/latest) (S) The start range consists of two times that identify the earliest and latest time an unpaid shift break may commence.
Unpaid end (earliest/latest) (S) The end range consists of two times that identify the earliest and latest time an unpaid shift break may finish.
Unpaid extra allowance (S) An extra allowance in minutes assigned to unpaid breaks.
Unpaid away (minimum/maximum) (S) The shift break range consists of two times that identify the minimum and maximum number of minutes that are used when specifying the unpaid shift break length at an away garage (depot).
Gap between shifts (minimum/maximum) (B) The gap between shifts range consists of two times that identify the minimum and maximum number of minutes between two shifts on a broken run.
