Replacing Comments

Comments which are no longer applicable to a trip may be replaced, for example, information on changes made to the trip times or routing of a trip.

You can replace comments using the Comments tab of the Trip Building Edit dialog box.

  1. On the Trips grid, select the trip to which the comment applies.
  2. Click Edit: Edit button

    The Edit dialog box appears.

  3. Select the Comments tab.
  4. Select the Replace option in the Action frame.
  5. Click the ellipsis button to open the Comment dialog box.
  6. Click Add.
    The Select Comment dialog box appears.
  7. From the Comments list, select a comment abbreviation of a previously defined comment.
  8. To replace the comment with a new comment, perform the following steps:
    1. Click New.
      The Abbr and Symbol fields are activated and the text box is cleared.
    2. In the Type drop-down list, select Line to apply the comment to the trip in the current context.
    3. To apply the comment to all the lines, select Global. In the Line field, the line of the selected pattern appears by default.
    4. In the Abbr field, type an abbreviation for the comment.
    5. In the User Type list, select the appropriate user type if you defined any in the ancillary data.
    6. In the text box, you can add comments up to a maximum of 4000 characters.
    7. Click Save.
  9. Click Assign.
  10. Optional: To arrange multiple comments assigned to a trip in a desired sequence in a report, click the Move Up or Move Down buttons in the Comment dialog box as necessary.
  11. Click Close.
  12. Click Apply on the Comments tab.
