Editing Supplementary Data

Editing the values of the supplementary data in the various screens is performed in various ways. The fields may be edited using an editing tool, in the dialog boxes where they were first created using the Edit feature, or changed directly on the screen.

Attention: Exercise extreme caution when changing supplementary data as it could adversely affect the integrity of your data.

Before editing any of the supplementary fields which are not index fields, make sure that you have read and write access. The following procedure is a sample exercise illustrating how to edit the supplementary fields associated with your Trips data.

  1. Click Tools > Supp. Data Definition.
  2. From the Screen With Supplementary Fields dialog box, select Trips and click Edit.
    The Supplementary Data dialog box appears.
  3. From the list of supplementary fields, select the field you want to edit and click Edit.
    The Supplementary Field Defn. dialog box appears.
  4. Click Advanced.
  5. In the Advanced Options frame, if the Read/Write check box is activated, you can edit the field. If it is not activated, the field may be an index field, for example, RunID, and the supplementary data is automatically generated based on other data that you have entered.
