Types of Runs
You can apply different types of runs when runcutting according to your requirements.
The two general types of runs are:
- Straight: Generally consists of a single block piece of approximately 8 to 10 hours of continuous work. Some straight runs are developed using two block pieces that are joined by a short break which may be paid and is usually less than 60 minutes. These runs are called two-piece straights.
- Split: Generally consists of two (sometimes three) block pieces with a break, which is called a swing, between pieces. A swing is usually unpaid and more than 60 minutes.
Note: A “piece” is a section of work that makes up an operator’s daily run. Blocks are cut
into pieces at relief nodes or from the garage pull-out or pull-in in order to create runs.
