APC Gateway is a configurable integration service that performs data exchange between Trapeze PLAN and third party Automated Passenger Count (APC) and fare count systems.
About This Guide
The APC Gateway System Administrator and User Guide provides an overview of the features of the APC Gateway, how to view and clean invalid data, and then transfer the clean data into Trapeze PLAN.
Data Process Flow
APC Gateway runs as a service in the background as it collects data from any number of systems simultaneously.
The Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) services, which reside in the NOVUS Service Shell, are at the core of APC Gateway.
About Data Cleaning
Data cleaning aims to resolve negative load issues, for example, the number of boardings (Ons) does not match the number of alightings (Offs). It makes minor adjustments to data that show the highest passenger activity.
About Data Extraction
Data extraction is performed through an XML parser. Each message instance in the XML data stream contains the specified data elements (for example, passenger counts from an APC system) for a given stop and its associated stop ID and trip ID.
APC Gateway Supported Data
APC Gateway can read a number of data formats including text, comma-separated values (csv), database, and Trapeze handheld data. Each format is configurable and flexible to allow for varying data types and field order.
Mapping and Loading Ridership Data into PLAN
After the boardings (ons) and alightings (offs) contained within the Ridership data have been balanced, the data is stored in the pre-transformation database of Gateway and is ready for final transformation to ensure all data elements are mapped explicitly to the table structures of Trapeze PLAN.
About Data Validation
In accordance with National Transit Data (NTD) reporting requirements, the integrity of all APC ridership data must be maintained.
Minimum Requirements for Third Party Systems
To achieve integration with other Trapeze applications, a third party system should have the following minimum requirements:
Trapeze applications use the Context properties mechanism to be able to access the centrally defined and maintained property values.
APC Gateway Context Properties
The APC Gateway context properties control the export and import of passenger boarding and alighting data.
The main task that a user performs on the APC Gateway screen is processing the held data.
Validating Data
You can perform the Validate function manually first before searching for held data.
Cleansing Data
Data cleansing or cleaning involves removing errors or corrupted data.
Checking for Files
After validating the data, you can choose to check some of the files to be processed further first.
Viewing Held Data
You can view the held data for possible editing or deletion if necessary.
Exporting Data to PLAN
After cleaning the data, you can export it to Trapeze PLAN.
