About the Parameters and Parameters by Situation Tabs

The Parameters and Parameters by Situation tabs both show the following tables although they display them in different order:

  • Group: Shows the main categories of the parameters.
  • Group Member: Displays the sub-categories associated with a selected Group item. Situation: Lists the variables that can be assigned any set of values in the Parameters table.
  • Parameter: Allows you to set values from the lowest to the uppermost degree that determine how the variables affect the runcutting process.

On the Parameters tab, the tables are arranged as follows: Group > Group Member > Situation > Parameters.

On the Parameters by Situation tab, they are arranged as follows: Group > Situation > Parameters > Group Member.

You can use either tab when defining your parameter values. When you type or modify a value on one tab, it is also displayed on the other tab.

Only the items in the Group Member table are user-defined. Those in the three other tables appear by default although

not all of them may necessarily apply to your transit site.

The items in the tables are linked from left to right. For example, on the Parameters tab, select Run Types in the Group table. Select a run type in the Group Member table, (for example, AM Straight). The situations associated with this run type appear in the Situation table. To set the number of runs for this run type, select Number of Runs. The parameters for this situation appear in the Parameter table. Note that below the tabs in the lower section of the screen, a brief explanation of the selected parameter is displayed. Select another parameter and the featured explanation changes accordingly.

The Parameters by Situation tab allows you to view the parameter values for all group members at the same time. For example, when you select the Run Types group, all its members (run types) are displayed and you can check whether they have the same values for a parameter in the current scenario.
