About Building Trapeze4 Map Data

After loading data into the map data source, you must build Trapeze4 map data using MapMaker. You can also re-build map data if you encounter problems when viewing a map, in case the data is corrupt.

When you build or re-build map data, the system creates data based on existing data, and creates a map.bin file that Trapeze4 applications use to quickly access spatial information. This binary file contains information for quickly finding and drawing segments on the map.
Note: Trapeze4 applications prior to version 9 sometimes use map.net and xrting.xrt files as well as the map.bin file. If your transit site uses Trapeze4 applications prior to version 9, you can build these files using an earlier version of MapMaker.

Information in the map.bin file must remain synchronized with information in the database from which it is created; you cannot use the binary file with other map data sources. To ensure that the data is synchronized, the mapHEAD database table stores the binary file size and date. If the bin.map file date or size does not match information in the mapHEAD table, a error message appears.
