About this Guide
The PASS-MON and FLEX-MON System Administrator Guide describes how to install/upgrade and use the MDT Server.
About System Requirements
The following graphic shows a sample system configuration of a mobile computer system and its associated components.
Before performing an upgrade, your Trapeze representative will advise you to perform the following steps:
Setting Up Log Files
Log files record the data transactions between the MDT Server and Trapeze Gateway (Windows CE MDT Proxy Server).
Using Switches
The CDebug tool identifies and tracks errors in the software. Switches are options that enable you to filter or refine commands in a specified manner.
Using the Shortcut Option
You can set up parameters to automatically log each day’s log file for the MDT Server.
About MDT Codes in PASS Ancillary Data
Ancillary data refers to essential data that facilitates the use of the PASS-MON functionality. The data must be set up first in Trapeze PASS before you can proceed to perform tasks on the PASS-MON screens.
MDT Server is a server application that facilitates sending and receiving of manifest events, configuration, and text message data between Trapeze and the mobile computer vendor gateway.

The following sections discuss how to monitor and adjust the MDT Server as required and how to resolve common issues that may occur as the dispatchers oversee the MDT Center and drivers progress through their routes.
Logging a Vehicle On or Off
Viewing the Update MDT Status screen allows you to monitor vehicle login status, log in vehicles or log out vehicles as necessary.
Cleaning the Message Queue
This function should be used under advice from your Trapeze representative.
Selecting Schedules
The Change Schedule feature is not used often because the mobile computer uses a real-time based system. It is used mainly for testing.
Adding Canned Messages
Canned messages are standardized routine messages that the dispatcher or driver can send through the mobile computer.
Editing Canned Messages
Update canned messages as needed.
Deleting Canned Messages
Delete canned messages as needed.
Adding MDT Groups
An MDT Group places the different types of mobile computers together.
