Defining Vehicle Capacity Types

Vehicle capacities must be defined before specific vehicles are created in the system.

Before you begin

Space Types ancillary data must be created by the system administrator.

About this task

When you determine capacity types, you must consider not only the size of the vehicle but also the space which different clients will require as well as any mobility aids (for example, scooter) that you must accommodate.

Procedure

  1. Click Task > Vehicles.
  2. Click the Capacities tab.
  3. In the empty row marked by an asterisk (*), in the Type field, type the capacity type number.
Choose a simple, numeric sequence. For example, 110.
  4. In the Var field, type the variation sequence for your capacity type.
If you are creating a new seating variation for Type 1 and seven sequences have already been entered, type 8 in this field.
  5. In each space type column, type the number of spaces occupied by that space type.
The maximum value you can enter under each space type or mobility aid is 999. The rest of the column headings represent space types and, in special cases, mobility types.
  6. Optional: In each mobility type column, type the number of spaces occupied by that mobility aid.
  7. Click elsewhere on the screen.
The edit symbol disappears and your entry is saved into the database and placed in the correct numeric sequence in the grid.
