About Creating Provider Security Groups and Users

Assigning security permissions to provider records prevents vehicles, runs, clients, and trip information from being seen or modified by other providers.

No permissions need to be assigned to a security group to restrict user access to providers. Only users who belong to the defined user group will be able to see the provider's information in PASS and in Trip Broker.

Each provider using the system should have at least two security groups:
Trip Broker administrator group
Users who administer and maintain Trip Broker.
Trip Broker user group
Users who log in to Trip Broker to accept and decline trips.

Create a new provider security group for each provider who should not see other providers' trips and information. Some sites may need to create a third security group for users who are not assigned to a provider. This will prevent their trips and information from being shown to unauthorized users.

Once security groups have been created, users can be assigned to them so that they see only provider-specific information. User permissions can be further refined to deny access to any Trip Broker features or functions that they should not view or perform.

The tasks to create and manage security groups and users are performed in Users and Security or in the Trapeze6 Client Shell.

For more information about managing security in the Client Shell, refer to the PASS System Administrator and User Guide.
