About BSM Screen Modes

Mode refers to the specific state that the screen is in to allow you to perform certain functions such as add, edit, or delete records. The mode of BSM screens are indicated by letters on the screen toolbar.

BSM uses the following modes:
  • Master [M] - Allows you to add, edit, or delete records. The screen is not locked. It also indicates that you are currently connected to the Master BSM database located in your agency's local network. (This is controlled through the BSM context property, Is Master Database.)
  • Locked [L] - Indicates that an active data session is in use on mobile computers in the field. Allows you to view records but does not allow you to perform any function on the screen, that is, it is read only. Although the fields may appear to be activated, you are unable to save any data that you enter. The screens are unlocked once all of the points that have been signed out are signed back into the Master BSM database and all mobile computer data sessions have been ended.
  • Tablet [T] - This indicates that you are currently connected to the mobile computer BSM database. You are only able to modify points that you have signed out. A data session must be active before points can be signed out.
Note: Mode is not applied on the Export screen.
