Cut Pieces Grid

The Cut Pieces grid, which is the left grid on the main BlockBuster screen, displays the data that has been typed or generated from the runcutting processes.

The following table explains the column headings in the grid:

  • F - Frozen

  • M -Manually Forced
  • O - Cost Overridden

Line Group Line group of the biggest piece or first piece based on parameter
Line First line of the first trip that the piece operates
Pattern Pattern of the first trip that the driver operates. If the relief is on arrival, the pattern of the previous trip is displayed.
Plat Platform - Amount of time that an operator is paid to operate a vehicle. Typically, this spans the From and To times. (Elements that constitute a platform vary by agency.)
Spread Period of time from the beginning of one shift to the end of the last shift for one operator on one operational day.
Work Group of runs to which an operator is assigned
Travel Time and distance that an operator must travel in order to arrive at the location of the start of a route assignment
Pay Total hours payable to drivers
Report Time allowed for drivers to sign on and prepare for work at the start of their run
Clear Time allowed for drivers to inspect their vehicles before they sign off at the end of their run
Makeup Time added to work time to comply with the minimum daily or weekly guarantee that is required by union contract

Travel Pay Rules vary on the payment of time required for drivers to travel from or to the garage in order to arrive at the location of the start or end of their runs.
Break Pay Payment for the time when drivers are not working during their shift.
Start Trv Node (Start Travel Node) Node or garage from which drivers start their travel
End Trv Node (End Travel Node) Node or garage to which drivers end their travels
Start Trv Type
(Start Travel Type) Travel at the start of a run; shown with any of the following codes:
  • R - Regular travel
  • W -Wait and travel
  • S -Shuttle
  • P - Created pull-out or pull-in
End Trv Type (End Travel Type) Travel at the end of a run; shown with the same codes applied to Start Trv Node.
Wait Time when operator waits for a vehicle to travel from a garage to a node or vice versa.
Cost Application of contract rules to pay for work assigned.
Penalty Factor applied to increase or reduce the probability of the application of a parameter; sets the higher and lower limits of a parameter.
Bus Type Bonus Bonus paid to an operator for driving a specific vehicle type.
Meal Break Bonus Bonus applied to a meal break.
Night Bonus Bonus paid to an operator for work performed on a night shift.

Day Premium Pay Payment applied to work performed during a day shift on special days, for example on holidays as determined by the transit agency or contract rules.
Spread Excess Amount of time in excess of Spread threshold before premiums applied

Break Trv1 Type

Type of travel at the end of the piece before the break occurs. Values shown in this field are:

  • R - Regular travel
  • W - Wait and Travel
  • S - Shuttle
  • P - Created Pull-out and Pull-in

Values are also used in Start Trv Type.

Break Trv2 Type Type of travel after the break before the piece. Values are the same as Break Trv1 Type.
Break Wait Amount of break time in the wait.

Piece Portion of a block that contains one or more trips.
Start Relief Type
Type of relief:
  • U = Unattended
  • R = Regular
  • F = Floating

By default, all reliefs are labeled "R". "U" or "F" are used based on the BlockBuster parameters or if the relief is cut at a place that makes it unattended or floating.

End Relief Type Values are the same as Start Relief Type.
Layover Time between consecutive trips when a vehicle is out of service to allow for operator breaks or to compensate for running time variations.
