Building Trips with the Trip Building Tool

The Trip Building Tool is typically used when you need to build trips with restricted times between directions or lines.

For example, an Eastbound trip only has time for a layover of two minutes before it needs to go Westbound. Another example is when the trip times in one direction may be "irregular" and you want to coordinate the transfers to another line from those trips.

Click Trip Building > Trip Building Tool The Trip Build Tool dialog box appears.
The line, direction and pattern of your current context appear in the appropriate fields; change as desired.
In the Layover field, type the layover allowed in between directions or lines.
In the From Time and To Time fields, type the time interval for which you want to build trips. These fields are set at 0:00 and 36:00, respectively, by default.
Depending on the trips you want to build, select one of the following options:
- Use Selected Trips: The system builds trips based on the trips you have selected on the Trips grid, for example, Eastbound trips to build the Westbound trips or build trips on a different line to coordinate transfers.
- Build All Trips: The system builds trips for both directions if you have not yet built any trips for the selected line.
Optional: In the Nodes field, select the node on which you want the trips to be built.
Optional: To build trips from the selected nodes in the Node fields, click the Select Node check box.
Click Build.
The trips built appear in the lower section of the dialog box.
Optional: From the trips list, select the trips you want to include in the Trips grid.
Click Apply.
The selected trips appear on the Trips grid. If you did not select any trip in the Trip Building Tool trip list, all trips appear in the Trips grid.
Click Close.
Optional: To prevent changes being made on the trips built, apply the Freeze option.
The Frz column displays check marks for the selected trips that have been frozen.
