About Vehicle Classes
A vehicle class represents a type of vehicle that usually travels at different speeds than other vehicles.
For example, separate vehicle classes for vans and articulated buses can be created. Classes for bicycle and pedestrian vehicles can also be created to generate biking and walking instructions.
When creating a new vehicle class, specify whether speeds for the vehicle class initially should be assigned to the same speeds as an existing vehicle class or set to a specific value.
Setting vehicle class speeds to a fixed value is useful if speeds for the vehicle class do not vary greatly depending on the street type. Vehicle class speeds can be set to zero (0) to make them easier to find and change when assigning speeds to vehicle classes.
Create vehicle classes sparingly. The more classes that are added to the system, the more difficult it is to appropriately maintain the data.
Changing speeds for a vehicle class from which a new class inherited speeds does not affect the new class speeds, and vice versa.
