About Configuring the Service Shell

Service shell configuration information is saved in text files called profile files.

A profile file must include the following information:
  • Data source information: Data source information includes the ODBC name and login information that the Service shell uses to connect to the Trapeze database.
  • Server information: Server information includes the port that the Client shell uses to connect to the Service shell. Component files and service groups: Each component file and service group contains services that are required for specific Trapeze applications.

Profile files are saved in the path\Config folder, where path is the directory where TSDE is installed. Profile files are named name.profile, where name is the application name that appears in the title bar of the Service and Client shells.

You can run multiple application sessions on one machine by running machines with different profile files.

You can edit profile files manually. You can also use the Profile Editor application to specify data source and server information. For more information, see Specifying Data Source and Server Information for the Service Shell.
