Creating New Location Records

Common locations (for example, hospitals or restaurants) can be geocoded in the system.

Before you begin

Common Locations must be open.

About this task

Ancillary data and property settings should be defined by a system administrator.

Additional information about locations, such as location capacity and a picture, can be defined.

Procedure

  1. Click Locations > Add.
    The Detail tab opens.
  2. On the Detail tab, complete the necessary fields.
Detailed location information includes the location type, address, and vehicle types that cannot use the location. The address typed here will appear in Trip Booking whenever the location is selected as an Origin or Destination for a trip.
  3. Click the Save button.
Click the Save button at any point to retain the location information. If information is missing and the record can't be saved, the system will prompt you.
  4. Optional: On the Picture tab, add a picture and picture date.
  5. Optional: On the Capacity tab, complete the necessary fields.
Capacities define the number of vehicles that can be sent to a common location.
  6. Optional: On the Times tab, complete the necessary fields.
Regular pick-up and drop-off times can be scheduled for frequently used locations. When a trip is booked, the system can suggest the scheduled times to help reduce the number of trips to the location.
  7. Optional: To create a date interval for the location, click the Calendar button.
Date intervals allow you to specify when trips can be scheduled traveling to or traveling from a location. For example, if a location is under construction and will be inaccessible, the construction dates can be defined in a date interval.
  8. Click the Save button.
The location record is saved with all of the defined information.
