Using Speed Factors for Runs

The system uses an average speed to calculate the time it takes to travel certain distances within the service area.

Before you begin

Runs must be open.

About this task

Speed Factor allows you to adjust the speed for a specific run that may be faster or slower than the defined average speed.

To see what the default average speed is, click Tools > System Properties, and on the Profile tab, click PASS Scheduling > Average Speed. If you cannot access this menu, ask a system administrator for the defined value.

Procedure

  1. Search for the run to which to add a speed factor.
  2. Click the Detail tab.
  3. Type a Speed Factor for the run.

The speed factor is typically set at 0 or 100, both of which represent the average speed. (0 means that the feature is not activated.)

For example, your average speed is 50 kilometers (km) per hour. You have a run traveling in rural areas where the volume of traffic is lower and you want to increase the speed of the run by 50%. Type 150 in the field. The system then calculates 50 × 1.5 = 75 and sets the speed for this run at 75 km per hour.
