Run Cost Data

The Run Cost pane on the Runs screen shows the breakdown of the costs related to the selected run and its pieces.

If the Override Cost toggle button is On, you can manually change the values shown on the Run Cost pane. You must be granted the appropriate security permission to perform the override.
Note: The descriptions shown here may be applied differently in your transit site depending on your policies and union contract agreements.

Field Description
Efficiency Platform time/Pay time for a run
Run Type Type of daily or weekly operator assignment based on union contract and transit agency rules.
Violation A transgression of or failure to comply with a law or obligation. This refers to instances of runs that do not comply with the set parameters or rules or are not within the defined tolerances.
Report Time allotted for drivers to sign on and prepare for work at the start of their run
Clear

Time allotted for drivers to inspect their vehicles before they sign off at the end of their run

Prep One of the time segments before the start of an operator's piece of work. The application of this time depends on the report rules of the agency.
Finish One of the time segments at the end of an operator's piece of work. The application of this time depends on the Turn-in rules of the agency.
Work Amount of time classified as ‘working’ by agency rules.
Pay Amount of time that determines the pay of drivers.
Spread

Period of time from the beginning of one shift to the end of the last shift (including break times) for one operator on one operational day.

Travel

Time and distance that an operator must travel in order to arrive at the location of the start of a route assignment or arrive at the location at the end of a run.

Platform

Amount of time that an operator is paid to operate a vehicle. Typically, this spans the From and To times, does not include breaks, but does include layover. (Elements that constitute a platform vary by agency.)

Makeup

Time added to work time to comply with the minimum daily or weekly guarantee that is required by union contract.

Overtime Work performed after a regular shift. This is the work time beyond the overtime threshold (often 8 hours).
Break PD (Break Pay Differential) Payment for the time when drivers are not working during their shift.
Spread OT Spread Overtime - Time exceeding the period of time from the start of the first piece of work to the end of the last piece of run.
Travel Pay

Payment of the time required for drivers to travel from or to the garage in order to arrive at the location of the start or end of their runs.

Start Trv Node (Start Travel Node) Node or garage from which drivers start their travel
End Trv Node (End Travel Node) Node or garage to which drivers end their travels
Start Trv Type

(Start Travel Type) Travel at the start of a run; shown with any of the following

codes:
  • R - Regular travel
  • W -Wait and travel
  • S -Shuttle
  • P - Created pull-out or pull-in
End Trv Type

(End Travel Type) Travel at the end of a run; shown with the same codes applied to Start Trv Node.

Wait Pay* Payment of the time that a driver has to wait for the relief vehicle or transfer between buses when travelling to a relief node.
Wait Time*

Time when operator waits for a relief vehicle to travel from a garage to a node or vice versa.

Meal Start* Start time of Meal Break
Meal End* End time of Meal Break
Meal Bonus Pay* Payment of the time for a meal period
Cost Application of contract rules to pay for work assigned.
Penalty

Amount of penalty required to create runs based on user-defined parameters. Generally, this is higher for less desired runs.

Night Differential* Change in pay given to operators who work outside the regular daytime work hours, that is, on the evening or night shifts.
Day Premium*

Payment applied to work performed during a day shift on special days, for example on holidays as determined by the transit agency or contract rules.

Bus Type Bonus* Added payment given to operators who drive specific bus types.
Line Group Line group associated with the trips serviced by the run.
Wheel Turn Time*

Period of work – Typically, platform less layovers and calculated by subtracting shift layover from platform time.

Wheel Turn Percentage* Percentage of the run that is ‘wheel turning’ time calculated as Wheel Turn Time / Platform Time
Report Time Time allowed for drivers to sign on and prepare for work at the start of the piece.
Clear Time

Time allowed for drivers to inspect their vehicles before they sign off at the end of the piece.

Prep Time

Time before the start of an operator 's piece of work

Finish Time

Time at the end of an operator's piece of work

Makeup Time

SignOn Time Time when an operator can start on a piece of work.
SignOff Time Time when an operator can end on a piece of work.
Platform Time

Amount of time that an operator is paid to operate a vehicle. Typically, this spans the From and To times. (Elements that constitute a platform vary by agency.)

Shift Time Period when operator is considered working.
Note: If the items marked with an asterisk (*) are not defined in Travels or Parameters for any run type, they are not displayed.
