About Nodes and Stops
A node is a designated timing point that is used in building trips. A stop is a physical point or location where a vehicle stops to pick up (load) or drop off (unload) passengers.
Nodes
A node is identified by an abbreviation and a full name or description. Most transit sites that change the description or full name of a node may continue to use the same abbreviation. A node is often located at a stop and may even have multiple stops associated with it as in an intersection with many stops. (In this case, it is a node/stop.)
Stops
A stop number is always unique. This characteristic is especially important for transit sites that use AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location) systems. Stops are created in two ways: on the Edit tab of the Nodes Edit dialog box (see Creating Nodes and Stops) or through the Bus Stops screen (see About Bus Stops).
