ViewPoint User Types

ViewPoint has two main user types: power users who create and edit reports and dashboards and share them, and consumers who use available reports to better understand their data and complete daily tasks.

All Trapeze ViewPoint users are Microsoft Power BI™ guest users.

Power Users

Power users, sometimes called designers, select and edit visuals to illustrate the data they include in reports shared with others in their organization. These are typically packaged and distributed through workspaces (for other power users to use) and apps (for consumers to use).

The basic power user workflow is as follows:

Consumers

Consumers, sometimes called business users, interact with the reports shared by power users to gather insights that help with planning and decision-making. Consumers use ViewPoint via an app of published content.

Consumers can do the following:
  • Use a web browser to work from the same dashboards and reports as colleagues
  • View data using colorful and compelling visuals (not just lists and tables)
  • Explore data to find insightful patterns and trends

Data updates are performed automatically (either continuously or nightly, depending on your setup), which means the latest information is always available.

The basic consumer workflow is as follows:
