About Absences and Absence Requests
Employees can use ESS Employee Information to make absence requests. The types of absences they can request depends on system configuration.
Supervisors review and grant or deny absence requests using the Client Shell. The order in which requests are processed depends on Absence Types ancillary data.
- see all their requests from ESS (created in ESS or on their behalf in the Client Shell)
- see each request status: granted, denied, or pending
- see their available accrual balances
If the absence request has a pending status, they can edit or delete it (depending on system configuration).
Most absences created for employees in the Client Shell also show in their calendars. If they've already taken them, the absences also show in Absence History. Only absences that use absence types included in the Absence Types ancillary group selected in the property are shown in absence history.
Depending on transit agency policies, employees may be able to delete granted absence requests. However, they can't delete granted absence requests that have already been changed or deleted in the Client Shell. The status of these requests shows as Granted and Changed or Granted and Deleted.
