Adding Fare Costs
A site that has a simple fare structure (for example, flat fare for all services and areas) needs only to define one fare cost named, for example, Regular. However, a site with a complex faring structure might define multiple fare cost names.
- Types of service (for example, regular and express)
- Modes of transportation (for example, buses, light rail, ferries)
- Zones that are subject to different fares.
- Transfers
For each of these, you need to define a fare cost name.
- Open the Fare Details tab of the FX-Fares dialog.
- In the Detail Type list, choose Fare Costs.
-
In the Description field, type a description of the fare cost. Examples of multiple fare costs are:
- Regular and Express: Develop fares for different types of service
- Rail: Develops fares for a distinct mode of transportation
- Zone A and Zone B: Develop fares for travel based on the areas of a trip’s origin or destination.
- One Zone and Two Zones: Develop fares depending on how many zones you travel through.
-
Click Add.
The fare cost is added and an ID number automatically assigned to it.
- For each additional fare cost, repeat steps 3 and 4.
Once you have defined all the required fare costs, you can assign fares to each fare cost.
