Assigning Fare Costs to Passenger Types

Use the Fare Cost tab to assign fare costs to all passenger types, determine the days and/or times it is used, and type actual fares.

Selecting time bands and/or service groups allows a transit site to indicate increased>decreased fares for peak/off-peak times or between different service groups (for example, weekend discounts).
  1. Open the Fare Cost tab of the FX-Fares dialog.
  2. Select the required sign-up period for the correct agency.
  3. Optional: To display all defined fare costs, select the Display All check box.
  4. In the Fare Cost list, choose a record (for example, Express Peak).
If the fare cost you want is not listed, you must define it. You can do so in the Fare Details tab or you can choose <New>. A dialog appears.
  5. Type a description in the blank field and click OK.
When you open the Fare Details tab, and choose Fare Cost, the new type is added to the grid list.
  6. In the Passenger Type list, choose a passenger type (for example, Senior).
To add a new passenger type to this list, choose and follow the procedure from the previous step.
  7. In the Fare($) field, type the fare to be charged for the specified passenger and fare cost.
  8. In the Start field of the Time Band frame, type the time of day at which the fare cost takes effect.
  9. In the End field, type the time of day up to which the fare cost ceases to be effective. If the fare is active all the time, clear the Time Band check box.
  10. Optional: In the Service list, choose the service to which this fare applies (for example, Weekday, Sat, Sun, or Holiday). If the fare is active for all services, clear the Services check box.
  11. Click Add.

Once this is completed, open the Fare Zones tab to assign zone groups to fare costs. If your site does not charge fares based on travel within zones, go directly to the Fare Rulestab.
